Thousands of International Pilgrims visit Rishikesh every year seeking Enlightenment
The Bhakti Yoga Centre of Rishikesh is currently in the developmental stage and plans call the opening of the Centre in October of 2014. The Centre will provide pilgrims a place to learn the nine processes of Bhakti Yoga including classes on "Mantra Meditation." Regular classes will also be held on the Study of the Bhagavad-Gita. Additionally, the Centre will provide a venue for the distribution of Vedic Literature written and translated by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, The Founder and Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON. Regular distribution of Prasadam, sanctified foodstuffs offered to Lord Krishna, will also be a service provided by the Centre.
The project is seeking $10,000 to be used for securing a storefront location on the east side of Ganga and for marketing, promotion, and book distribution. A matching grant has been pledged by Krishna Gopal das, a disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, who will be overseeing this project. Consequently, all donated funds will be used exclusively for the Centre itself and its efforts to promote the education and introduction of Bhakti yoga free to all who are seeking to learn the Science of Self Realization. This project follows the guidelines and teachings set forth by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder and Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)

If you reside in the United States and wish to claim your donations as a tax deductible donation then your donations need to go through a registered 501c3 Nonprofit organization registered with the IRS. Additional Information about Rishikesh
Rishikesh is a city with in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as The Gateway to the Himalayas. It is located approximately 20 km north of the holy city Haridwar. Rishikesh has a permanent population of around 75,000.
"Hṛṣīkeśa" (Sanskrit: हृषीकेश) is a name of Vishnu that means 'lord of the senses." Hrishik means Senses and ish means master or Lord. Hence the word means Lord of Senses or Lord Vishnu. The place gets its name after Lord Vishnu who appeared to 'Raibhya Rishi', as a result of his tapasya (austerities), as Lord Hrishikesh is described In Skanda Purana, This area is known as 'Kubjamrak' where Lord Vishnu appeared, under a mango tree.
Rishikesh sometimes nicknamed "the world capital of Yoga", has numerous yoga centres that also attract tourists. It is believed that meditation in Rishikesh brings one closer to attainment of moksha, as does bathing in the holy river Ganges that flows through it. Rishikesh is also home to the 120-year old Kailas Ashram Brahmavidyapeetham, an institution dedicated to preserve and promote the traditional Vedantic Studies. Prominent personalities have studied in this institution.
In February 1968, The Beatles visited the now-closed Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in Rishikesh.John Lennon recorded a song titled, 'The Happy Rishikesh Song'.The Beatles composed nearly 48 songs during their time at the Maharishi's ashram, many of which appear on the White Album.
